Amigo Volo, Royal Regatta Extend Streaks At Mohawk

Tyler Borth took the lines of Meg Crone student Amigo Volo in the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday evening (April 22) to win the fifth straight race for the seven-year-old Father Patrick-Margarita Momma gelding. Royal Regatta extended his own win streak to eight on the card.

Amigo Volo made every pole a winning one in the feature trot, setting panels in :26.3, :55.2 and 1:24.1. Without letting up, Amigo Volo posted a final panel in :27.2 to win by four lengths in 1:51.3. Southwind Coors (Chris Christoforou) finished second and Looks Like Moni (James MacDonald) completed the triactor.

Pinske Stables and David Miller co-own the winner of $2,71,426 from 91 career starts. Amigo Volo won his fifth race from seven starts this season and moved his career record to 37-21-12. He paid $4.20 to win.

Royal Regatta (Mcardle-Mary O Mel) won his eighth straight race while in action on the Monday evening card at Mohawk.

James MacDonald and the Clifford McGuire student took the early lead from post seven, hitting the quarter first in :27.2. Lets Get Rocked (Travis Cullen), parked out to the quarter, took command to the :56.4 half. Highland Beach Boy (Bob McClure) pulled first over and sent Royal Regatta back to third through the three-quarters in 1:25.2. With a :27.3 final quarter sprint, Royal Regatta passed his foes and went on to win by one length in 1:53.2. Lets Get Rocked finished second with Highland Beach Boy third.

Nancy McGuire owns the nine-year-old gelding, who earned his eighth win in 11 starts and 38th career victory. In 197 starts, he has earned $304,895. He paid $4.70 to win.
